: I am interested in treatments that others are receiving for their FMS. My doctor is reluctant to adequately treat my pain and fatigue due to addiction concerns. While I understand his concern, my quality of life is drastically diminished. He(my Dr.) considers FMS to be a sleep disorder, but from the info I have acquired it seems to be a pain or neuro disorder. Am I right?....or is he? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanx!

A sleep disorder is only one component of FMS. If our sleep gets regulated, we have a better chance of our other symptoms diminishing. We don't know if the sleep disorder is caused by neurochemical imbalances or if it causes neurochemical imbalances. All we know is that they go hand-in-hand. A good doctor should not deny you pain relief but a cautious doctor will start slowly and will monitor you closely. Discuss your options with your physician. If they don't make sense, then get another physician.
